Cut the Toxins, Yo!!

I hope everyone had an awesome weekend! Here we are at Monday again. How does it get here so fast?? I have today off so I'm not so upset about it. Tuesday on the other hand......

My St. Patrick's Day included a great workout in the morning. I got a 1500 cal burn in. Then I did a little cleaning before taking my boys to the mall for a little while. They love going to the mall, it's so funny. We had a nice lunch date. I had sushi. With wasabi. That was my "Green". Oh and I do have to admit we split a milkshake. Dark chocolate. It was fantastic. Great workouts + living a balanced life = indulgence without guilt. Isn't that awesome?? :)

On the way home, I searched a few different Red Box boxes trying to find Wreck it Ralph for them. I had looked on my way home from work last night and couldn't find it anywhere. I pulled up to the 7th Red Box I checked in two days and it was finally there! I looked into the car and gave the boys a thumbs up! They were shouting with joy and clapping for me. I had earned my awesome mommy badge! It is the little things isn't it? :)

Now on to my thoughts for the day. Toxins. And toxic people. Both need to be eliminated.

Anything that does not make you a better person for having it in your life is not a good thing to keep there. I am sure we all have learned that lesson over life. I have made decisions based on this and my knowledge that the relationship was toxic. I have also learned lessons by not listening to my intuition enough when it was telling me something wasn't right. We all make that mistake too. We second guess ourselves and think we are being too picky or try and give that person another chance when all along our intuition had already told us the truth. And our personal feelings and ideas do matter with this as well. The way we live our lives. Whether we are optimistic or pessimistic. And whether we are spiritual or not. I am a spiritual person. And I have discovered that dating someone that isn't spiritual just isn't going to mesh well. The way I see it, if someone doesn't have faith in the unknown then how can they really have faith and trust in me and us? It's just going to create problems that aren't even there. Not every situation I suppose..but it just makes sense doesn't it?

Of course this can apply to friends too. We all know that high school continues after we graduate. At least the social aspect of it. I think it sometimes gets worse as we get older. When you go to college, get married, have families, that just adds more for fuel for the toxic people to pick at and attack or try to bring us down about. I have never understood it. But I can say that through significant weight-loss and also a divorce I have discovered who my friends are. The true friends. In a way it's good. It narrows the list down a lot but it really is about quality vs. quantity. That is an important lesson to learn, my friends! And if any of you are younger and just starting this journey, keep it in mind and try and learn that lesson earlier.

Now on to toxins. There is so much out there damaging our bodies. It is scary to think about. Did you know that experts estimate that we carry hundreds of environmental contaminants in our bodies? And babies are even born with them and the breast milk is filled with pollutants. They come from food, the air, chemicals, containers, cleaners. Pretty much everywhere we go there are contaminants. They can cause multiple health issues such as Alzheimers, ADHD, Autism, anxiety, fatigue, infertility, thyroid and autoimmune issues as well as Diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
And having a large amount of these contaminants in our body can keep us from losing weight too.

I'm sure as scary as this is, the thought of having to completely cut out toxins is daunting as well. Obviously we aren't going to be able to control the environment ourselves. At least what other people are doing. We can put effort into making things better on our end. This happens through eating organic. Try to focus on getting these organic whenever possible: apples, celery, strawberries, nectarines, grapes, sweet bell peppers, potatoes, kale, lettuce and blueberries. And meat and dairy are repositories for contaminants. So buying those organic will help immensely.

Try to use eco-friendly cleaners, eliminate all plastic bottles, use environmentally friendly beauty products and try and focus on natural fibers on furniture in your home. I know this seems like a lot to do but again try to take baby steps. The same way changing your eating and exercise habits to become healthier takes baby steps.

I have started incorporating cleanses and Epsom salt baths into my life as they are helpful with eliminating toxins from our bodies. The Epsom salt draws the toxins out through the pores. And I sleep a lot better after taking one. These are just a few of the little things you can do. Even the morning ritual of warm water with lemon can rid your body of toxins that have settled in the digestive track overnight. Pretty amazing isn't it??

Be good to yourselves and others today! Try to pay it forward with kindness and a positive attitude. I know we are all dealing with stressful situations and it's hard to be happy certain days. But forcing yourself to see the good and focus on that is so good for you and I am a firm believer that we we put out there will come back to us. So positive energy, happiness, kindness will come back in time. Not all will treat you that way of course. But at least you can know when you go to sleep at night that you did what you could to add to the positive energy.

God Bless,
Tami
