Disclaimer of today's post. It feels rather like the SNL skit "Deep Thoughts by Jack Handy!" haha! I know I am aging myself...but that's fine!! :)
Well, we made it to Thursday. Fridays aren't to me what they are to everyone else because I work on Saturdays. Soo, my "Friday" is Saturday. Did that make sense at all?
I got up extra early to take a shower and blow my hair out and flatiron it. I have naturally curly hair and never really put much effort into straightening it until recently. I had always felt it would look too thin if I straighten it. The answer to that would be no. Sort of like how I used to say I was "big boned" when very overweight. Kind of comical, that one!!
And now I'm all girly, making it all high-maintenance. I'm not sure what's going on! The good thing is I only have to do this blow out/flat iron "session" every 4-5 days. I can maintain it in between with much less effort. I am told the color and look makes me look younger...so hey...bring it!! :)
I am finally feeling somewhat normal again. Only took five days! My friend and I were saying we think it's a rule to not have a late girls night out on Daylight Savings night again. That just kicked my butt! My normal "oomph" has been lacking. I could be an extra on the set of The Walking Dead this week.
I do love my morning coffee which helps a lot in these situations. I am all about health and incorporating healthy products into my life and eliminating bad ones. I just cannot give up coffee. I do keep it to one mug in the morning as I've said before. Every once in a blue moon I have some later. And again I do down 24 ounces of water first and drink water and green tea the rest of the day.
I have been thinking about cows milk vs soy/almond, etc. I don't think I am lactose intolerant. I know allergies to things can come in different forms but I have never had an issue with it. I have read things saying "Cows milk is intended to make a baby calf gain tons of weight which does not bode well for us". And I ponder that. And see the logic in it but then I am also a spiritual person and feel like certain things were put on this planet for a specific reason. Then again, maybe we were given the brains to figure out what was good for humans and what was not. The same can be said for wheat and gluten. Have we always been allergic or is it something that is recent? I don't remember anything before the last few years that said "gluten intolerance" or maybe the research has just increased awareness as is the case with anything else.
As you can tell I'm a thinker when it comes to all of this! Hence why I want to study and be certified. :) I do see how Asian people live and how they look as a result and feel like that isn't an accident and we should possibly incorporate more of their habits. For example they don't eat dessert really. A treat after a meal is generally fruit. Also their consumption of green tea. I have started drinking it more regularly and do find it makes me feel better than drinking coffee in the afternoon. The antioxidant benefits are kick ass.
I have been big on anti-aging since I was in my 20's. I think the fountain of youth is in taking care of ourselves. Taking care of our skin on the outside through sunscreen, exfoliating, moisturizing..and on the inside through proper nutrition. And getting plenty of rest is so important. Though recent studies have said that those who get about 6-7 hours of sleep per night live longer than those who get or more. Maybe because those sleeping a tad less are getting up early to exercise or just get better rest in those 6-7 hours because they live a healthy lifestyle so the quality of sleep is better. Again, lots to ponder!
Something else I'm looking to start incorporating into my and my boys life is turmeric. You can use it in recipes or drink it as a tea. There definitely seems to be a consistent link between turmeric and cancer. I just feel like it can't hurt! Again, products of nature that we are given the brain cells to figure out are good for us to beat certain things. Check this link out!

Have a great day everyone. Think good thoughts and have confidence in yourself.
