Good morning. Make it a great Friday!! :)

Good morning! Happy Friday!

Received the call at 5:40 this morning that there isn't school due to snow. Again! Oh what fun. It's fine. I feel well rested. I had a great workout yesterday. I can only get to the gym about 2-3 days a week so I focus on the calorie burns there. Right now, my gym days are Mon, Thurs and Sun. I tend to burn about 1400-1500 each time. And I do other things at home. Planks are a new fav!  I got a nice 1400 calorie burn in yesterday so I was down for the count by 10pm! I had some turkey chili and dark chocolate m&ms too.

I work for two eye doctors at two locations. Today my hours are 11-7. I am currently sitting and enjoying my coffee. In sensory overload just a smidge with my 6 year old boy on my left playing his Nintendo DS and my 3 year old boy talking to me about Legos. I was just pointed out who Luky Skywalker was in Lego world.

Ahh, life as a single, working mother in one of the most expensive areas of the country (Fairfield County, CT). And yet I somehow manage to continue my healthy lifestyle. I do because I know I won't be much good for them if I'm not healthy and if I don't have energy.

What each day brings on this blog, nobody knows. I can be somewhat random as I'm always thinking and trying new things. I am sort of my own guinea pig when it comes to new foods or exercises. Going to share some of my daily habits and thoughts and just see where it goes. I hope that's alright with all, y'all! :)

This morning. And pretty much daily:
Get up, turn on the news and Today Show.
Have my boys ask me for granola bars by 6:30. And my 3 year old tries constantly to have cookies for breakfast.
Heat a cup of water. Squeeze half a lemon in. I drink warm lemon water as much as I can. So many health benefits. It supports immune function, alkalizes the body, aids digestion, clears skin and promotes healing. What's not to love about that?
I make a pot of coffee. I make enough for a nice mug (vat) of coffee in the morning. Generally this is all I drink. Once in awhile I drink a bit more later but on average no. I do put in a little creamer too. Gasp! lol! I am not 100% pure and healthy. To me it's all about balance. I love the Coffee Mate Italian Sweet Cream. It makes me happy.
I drink 24 ounces of water before I drink the coffee.

Yes, it's a lot of liquid first thing in the morning but it's now such a habit in my life that it's easy to get it all down. Water has become a buddy of mine. And has been a daily friend since I was in serious weight-loss mode. I am working on getting before/after photos on here.

It's truly amazing what habits I have incorporated into my life that I don't even think twice about. But it makes me feel so great and sets the tone for the day. Throughout the day I drink water and green tea.

For lunch I will go to the grocery store near my work and make a salad from the salad bar. I make a huge one with spinach and pile on the shredded carrots, red, orange and yellow bell pepper, cucumbers and grilled chicken. I usually put 4 mini fresh mozzarella balls too. And balsamic! Once in awhile I will indulge in croutons. :) I often get a package of blackberries and whatever fruit is in season and enjoy those later as snacks. I eat berries and apples daily usually.

Dinner. Not sure yet. My boys are with their father this weekend. And often working until 7 I am not super hungry for dinner. I also work Saturdays from 10-5. So dinner may be somewhat light. We will see.

I eat for energy and to feel good. I do indulge and eat crap sometimes. I make a mean buffalo chicken dip for parties. That stuff is like crack! (Not that I know what crack is like!!). But often my body lets me know that it's not enjoying the junk via stomach pains, bloating and acid reflux. So it's good to do once in awhile because it just reinforces why eating and living healthy is so much better for my body. My body thanks me!

Alright. Clearly I can talk. And talk. And talk. I think this is enough for now. I just want to share and help and inspire if possible. Feel free to comment or ask any questions. Again, this will eventually turn into a website with information more readily available.

Have a great day!! I get to drive in snow. Wish me luck!!

God bless!
Tam
