Yesterday was one of those blah kind of days. It was fairly mild which was nice but rainy and I think the barometric pressure contributes to that blah feeling. Plus it was not a good hair day. And we all know what THAT does to our day! lol! I was so happy to get home and take a bubble bath and relax! My boys were with my ex-husband so I take that time to just unwind. I always miss them but I figure if we were still married, I'd need this time and at least this way it's set and I can plan around it. That looking on the bright side of life thing again.
Now, I don't think I'm what you'd call a trendy person. And I don't really think I have a specific style. I usually call it the style of Tami. :) I like to be comfortable and feel best and sexiest when I am. If you don't feel yourself or at ease, you aren't going to look it. So I dress what I feel is best for me and what I find most comfortable without being sloppy. I will leave the fashion sense and expertise to my friend Jessie who owns a clothing boutique. I would trust her to dress me in anything! She'd probably make a potato sack look designer! haha!
I did experiment with my hair and did the Ombre color. I have dark brown on the top and red on the bottom. It's just cool! And fun. I keep saying I got daring in my old age, haha. I have always been a more "classic" dresser so it was a pretty daring move. As my colorist said "It's hair. It will grow back or you can color over it if you don't like it". Yes ma'am!! :) I'm not sure why I'm talking about this but I did say I was going to discuss beauty.
I'm the same way when it comes to eating well and exercise. I don't feel super trendy but I am open to new things and ideas. I am always reading about various things as well to see what others have tried and experiment. I am not a huge fan of "quicky methods" to health though I think doing a cleanse once in awhile can be beneficial. The one I do maybe once or twice a year is the Cinch (Or Sass) Five-Day Fast-Forward. It's a good way to re-start my system, get rid of bloat and curb cravings. It's great to do it right after the holidays when you just feel gross. You eat 5 foods for 5 days. Spinach, eggs (whole), raspberries, almonds (almond butter) and plain yogurt. You don't use any salt. Only season with pepper, herbs, spices. And the foods are in various combinations throughout the day always incorporating the good fats, protein, antioxidants, etc. The specific foods are chosen for their nutritional benefits. Remember when eggs were thought to be unhealthy?? Sheesh! :) Check out this link about eggs! http://www.healthdiaries.com/eatthis/10-health-benefits-of-eggs.html
When I do the cleanse, I switch things around a bit to suit my tastes. For example, the morning meal is a scramble with eggs and spinach and the evening meal is a spinach salad. Sometimes I do the scramble again if I don't feel like the salad. And the cleanse calls for raspberries. I have used other berries as well depending on what is in season. Raspberries are such a nutritional powerhouse but so are all berries in their own way. I season the scramble with garlic, black pepper and red pepper flake sometimes. So very very good. And even when not in cleanse mode, I eat eggs with spinach or kale and the smoothie the cleanse calls for a lot. After a fun night out, I will just eat light and healthy the next day and often my dinner is the scramble. Or a pound of spinach! My beloved spinach. When I was a kid, my mother would make chicken livers and while I am pretty eclectic with food I couldn't stand those! I would look at them miserably and say "Can't I just have spinach instead??".....Just call me Popeye!
Again, it's all about that balance I keep talking about. It took me yo-yo'ing through my 20's to figure it out and I hope to save everyone the time and trouble it took me to get there. The reason I like this cleanse is it is only five days and it includes food. And it includes fats. Proof that you don't get fat from fat. So many people need to get out of that frame of mind and realize that "fat-free" products and artificial sweeteners are so much worse for you than avocados, coconut oil, nuts, salmon, eggs, etc.
Working 9-5 today. I always think of Dolly Parton singing when I say that. How can you hear this and not be put into a better mood?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-gqMpZroy8 "Tumble out of bed and stumble to the kitchen, pour myself a cup of ambition; yawnin', stretchin', try to come to life"......Wow, its like they have a video camera of me in the morning! hahaa!
Peace out babes! Rock on today!
God Bless,
Tam
